Beauty of Women

The concept of beauty has always intrigued me, as what is considered beautiful and what is not and why we humans have established those standards? We have all seen women that are not your classic beauties yet have an aura or a presence that somehow made us see them as beautiful. What is it that they have?

When I was little I was convinced that my mother was the most beautiful woman in the world. In my teens that I even questioned that assumption, but only because I was told that I looked just like her, and I certainly did not consider myself to be beautiful or even particularly pretty. Perhaps wholesome, maybe even cute but certainly not beautiful.

So who is the most beautiful woman in the world?
Half a century ago, Hollywood would have presented her to us as Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman or perhaps Elizabeth Taylor.
But today, the woman who currently holds the title, at least according to thousands of Web sites, media, Hollywood and yours truly, would be Sofia Vegara, Vikki Blows, Megan Fox, Bar Refaeli, Alessandra Ambrosio, Alice Eve, Aishwarya Rai, Brooklyn Decker and Doutzen Kroes just to name a few.

We live in a society that places a very high degree of importance on physical attributes and appearance. TV, magazines, movies and billboards all display attractive people specially in Los Angeles. We see women running to plastic surgeons having many different kinds of procedures done simply to enhance their look and appearance. Our society is obsessed with physical beauty, and many women are caught up in that obsession as well.

Should beauty be that important for a woman? Is beauty something all woman should strive for? What makes a woman truly beautiful?
